The difference is that you hijack the decision making process of what can and can not be made to start with. So even if you pirate, demo, or rent a game, and all the games available are just dumb bullshit products with a socialist message, then you may as well say that there is no video games that are actually made anymore. In fact, you could say, there is no more video game companies or industry anymore. Forget political ideology, you're just going to be stuck with old games to play on repeat. If you don't mind, that's cool but in the long run, it's not a viable thing for most.
