What makes this shit even funnier is that they were fucking cowards at the moment of killing of JD. They didn’t want to be the ones to directly kill him off so they let the decision into the players hands, but even when they tried to make JD as unlikable as they could (without success) most of the player base still decided to save JD because he is the son of Marcus fucking Fénix, and people didn’t want to make him suffer even more after losing his best friend and wife. So probably everything they planned for with Dell as the survivor went to fucking waste and write themselves into a corner as you said and they can’t decide with ending is canon, since if the let JD live, twittertards and most of the usual suspects will complain about whitey, and if they let Dell live, the player base that still care will drop the franchise right there and then.

Does anyone care about Gears canon? I feel like they could retcon 4-5 as some Legends/Elseworlds bullshit and just say the main canon ended at 3 and no one would bat an eye. A proper prequel is what people have been asking for years now. When the Locust first emerged and the chaos and bleek apocalypse of the world can be shown. Thats an easy trilogy and if they fuck that up then just let it die like Halo did.
