I agree about the monsters. Ettin and Centaurs have longer melee range and their attack connects sooner, making them actually dangerous and escape the Pinky Demon situation. Centaurs being vulnerable from the side/back is neat, not really useful if you know how to deal with them but not a negative change. The death explosion Dark Bishops also has increased range, which makes meleeing them riskier. Very good updates.
I don't really agree with the weapon updates. The Parry is way too strong and basically removes the default Mace attack from the game, as there's no reason to use it. At least it requires a modicum of skill to pull off, so there's that. Frost Shards on the other hand went from terrible ranged attack / very strong melee attack to the the most powerful non-final weapon ranged attack and useless melee attack. The Mage was the only class that used all four weapons throughout the entire game and each weapon had very specific purposes, now you just use Frost Shards on everything.
I'm not upset about the changes though because they can be toggled; I just turn the weapon changes off.
