This, by the way, makes no sense because DMC did not come out in the US till October 17th. Unless he speaks Japanese and imported a PS2, along with the game, this doesn't add up.

God I love this video, I've rewatched it every year or so since it came out. DMC1 had been my favourite game since I played it in 2002 on my uncles ps2 and it will probably always will be.

People always underestimate DMC1's story. Can't blame 'em, though. The game is borderline minimalist in its narrative and unless you live in Japan you had no access to the external material.

There is a Japan only book. An in depth game guide. It came with a prologue and an epilogue along with some cometary by Dante about every enemy.
I don't remember what it's called but a chinese dude posted some high quality scans a few ago. They were translated by Blackened-Angel. I think they're a she. She did the whole Visions of V manga, too.

DMC1 has the best sound design in the series. The pseudo horror atmosphere is absolute kino.
