What happened to MMOs?

I think this one could be fun

It's just one autist pushing the narrative that Dofus is a S-Tier MMORPG, right? It's garbage and I never see /v/ discussing it, I only see it in that same tierlist that gets spammed here.

Only decent MMORPGs are OSRS and WoW. Everything else is a futile attempt at recreating one of them.

Companies rather make gacha games to siphon money off players and whales. Easier than investing in developing a new MMO that might fail.
Combine that with the fact that older MMOs are still playable and relevant competition to anything new despite being older games.

For me, it's a culmination of different factors. I wasn't expecting much from the msq and they somehow managed to create something unsalvageable. Also coupled with the homogenization of jobs and also getting tired of the same formulaic content releases just made me unsub. Couldn't even be bothered to try and save my house and just let it get demolished.

I recommend it to anyone tbqh, it's jank as fuck but it's truly unique. Character building is super fun because it's layers upon layers of customization. There are tons and tons of zones with varied environments (Ravenloft, Myth Drannor, Sharn, Thunderholme, the Underdark, the Feywilds.. etc). And it's all dungeons with narration, puzzles, side objectives. Community is very active too, possible to level up all the way in a group almost.

Only issue is the lag, a constant thorn in the side of an otherwise great game.
