For Engage, would it be a bad idea to complete Fell Xenologue maddening before chapter 11 so you could let the 4 hounds meet their FX counterparts? I know about the units making Divine Paralogues hard but I may just complete the Divine Paralogues first.

From what I read, it would be best to do FX after getting the dancer but by that point, feels like half the game is over and done with.

If your plan is to just steamroll the FX chapters by setting it to Normal, that's not a bad idea. It will be a ball-busting challenge on Lunatic though (speaking from experience). The extra units won't really break the game that early, especially if you've already got DLC on the table. I would recommend doing the Divine Paralogues before FX, but they aren't impossible after, just harder. The units you get are comparable in capabilities to Ivy/Pandreo/Panette/Kagetsu.

its kind of a shame that she has a really incredible start with multiple build options from budget dire thunder/mae ring to a vantage thoron 1 shot build or just going mage knight if you arent specializing her in 3 rangee nuking, but then she is really underperforming for the rest of the game when you hit promoted enemies. Overall, she's a solid Thunder/Thoron user throughout the whole game and can hold Corrin to spam Flame Dragon Veins/cast Draconic Hex while Pandreo and Ivy can directly kill enemies with Bolganone. She's slower than them, but speed is easy to patch in Engage, and she still has a strong niche to contribute after her early start and Canter access.

It's not really fair or helpful to judge a ringless unit's performance on their join chapter. Panette looks like a giant shitter at join, too. Merrin is mediocre. Kagetsu sucks ass until he reclasses. Etc.

Citrinne is biggest bang-for-buck early mage. Others like Anna and Jean *can* grow to be better, but Citrinne is the best balance of immediate performance to cost. She's honestly pretty cracked if you're doing the divine paralogues early. Long term issues with speed do turn up eventually, but not until around Ch. 17, and by then you can just boost her with Lyn or something if you really want to her be a permanent.
I see her as like a magic Jagen that joins in the latter earlygame rather than the start.

I find Pandreo to be ridiculously overrated in comparison. Like she has speed and build but there's nothing else remarkable about him, including his join time. At least Ivy flies.

Hoo boy, good luck to you with that. I definitely recommend doing the divine paralogues first in that case as you will probably need some of those emblems, and possibly the fragments/SP/supports from the maps too. Here are some quick, handy tips:
-Divine Blessing is your best friend
-fortify can be used to charge emblems rapidly
-accuracy is shit, C/B supports help A LOT
-bond level 10 for as much stats as possible
-good tank inherits: arms shield, unyielding, hold out
-buff Seraphim's MT and maybe Wolf Beil too
-for the last map: Chloe+Sigurd+Venomous is goated

You are kind of underselling how fucking insane killing every single enemy unit in one hit is for the measly cost of a master seal, thoron forge from thunder, and magic tonics is. Sagetrinne dominates for about 6 maps straight as one of your only units capable of killing things outright without a ring and she can do it from 3 range. Dire thunder is just sugar on the cream.

One-shotting fliers (wyverns specifically) is the radiant bow's only real niche, and it's not much of a niche. It won't be able to hit any other relevant kill thresholds because the MAG caps on the classes that use it are too low. Also, I say 'wyverns' because griffins are weak. The STR requirement to OHKO griffins with Parthia (and later Mulagir) are pitifully low. Forged/engraved silvers/steels will also work for anyone who can use them.
