It's mainly that front runners use more stamina than pace chasers. You need around 800 stamina and 2 golds to survive evil nature with a pace chaser, you'd need about an extra 100 or so with a front runner. If you can get that high then yeah a front runner will dominate the race. But for most people building a pace would be easier since we can get a free golden recovery from the special week welfare card.

Front Runners lack the acceleration in the final strech. They get passed by by Pace Chasers and End Closers. It's not even solely a stamina problem. You can get away with borrowing her what i recommend is borrow MLB suzuka for unrestrained (this skill is absolutely busted) and if you're gonna borrow a sky try to get one with acceleration skills as grandparents (like taiki or maru). Your front runners WILL be unbeatable. Bourbons got 20% to stamina and 10% to strength so she'll be a very strong pick.
