I watched the entire show subbed for the first time some years back after only seeing the first two seasons of the dub.
When hitting season 3 I started going to the dubbed version and skipping around a bit after each episode to see how it compared and some parts had me laughing just because knowing the original context showed me how little they gave a single fuck.

Amon's first appearance is him appreciating the nice and calm boat ride to Duel Academy and thanking Kaiba Corp for providing them with such a nice ship in the most respectful way possible, and the dub version he's like "Dude, this ride sucks I hate everything about it" with a surfer dude voice.

In the manga winning the race was an alt win con.

And in several episodes in the anime, the race is an important factor like Yusei needing to get somewhere before a door locked, and not being able to because he couldn't gain speed counters.

Aside from that, the first person to take the first corner gets to go first. The more distance you get from your opponent, the more time you get to react when they declare attacks/card effects since they need to reach you.

Missing the timing only happens because YGO chain is just a shittier version of MTG stack. The only difference between the two is that you cannot add to the YGO chain/stack once it starts resolving, and this is exactly what causes chain blocking and missing the timing.
When they copied MTG they should've just kept the stack the same. Alternatively, these cards which can miss the timing could've just been worded differently without having to change how the chain works and that would also solve the issue (but chain blocking would still exist).

It's a custom format where everyone is playing the exact same deck. Pic related.
It's meant to be easy to get into, low power level and very interactive.
All cards in the deck are very simple. There aren't any long combos or search-chains. Each card in the deck has a purpose and a way to counter it.

It got it's name after the Wattsquirrel which is included in the deck.

Off top of my head:
1. Fairy decks in 2008, assuming you play Raigeki Break and Karma Cut to discard them, and then the standard suite of resurrection S/T cards and Athena to revive them. Hall of Valhalla, Reasoning and Monster Gate can be used to cheat them out from hand/deck. It's pretty mid tho.
2. Dragon turbo in 2011. The whole idea of the deck is drawing into mostly high level dragons, sending them to GY if needed, then summoning REDMD and using it to revive the other big dragons like White Night Dragon, Blue-Eyes, Prime Material Dragon, etc. It's pretty much a gamba deck, but it's really good when it goes off.
