The Switch 2 CPU is fucking atrociously bad. Normally that wouldn't matter but nearly every game now is CPU bound so it's a really big deal. That's why the PS5 gets bad performance often too, skimping on the CPU has been the go to for console manufacturers and PC builders for ages but now that doesn't work.

Most of the games that suffer from being CPU bound are more open world and sadly that's the current meme that every dev is chasing after. It's why this has become a more recent problem, it's easy to blame UE5 for being shit, and it is, but even games on regular engines suffer. Capcom's RE engine games are excellent examples of that, something more linear like the RE4R remake run wonderfully on basically anything but the open world games like DD2 and MHWilds run like complete fucking garbage. DD2 and MHW are cpu bound because of the open worlds, that's why.

Switch 1 sold over 150 million units. Literally the top 23 games are ALL Nintendo 1st party games. 24 and 25 being Monster Hunter Rise (a little over 8 million) and Stardew Valley (around 8 million). After that the rest of them down to 50 are almost ALL Nintendo 1st party games. And just for comparison, Monster Hunter Rise didn't even beat Mario Maker 2 and 3D Mario All Stars that was literally pulled from shelves and online after six months of being available. Every other game in the top 21 sold multi millions in sales too.

No. 3rd party games don't "do well" with Nintendo. Even on the console that sold as much as the PS2 and is on track to beating it unless Sony decides to "find" more PS2s in a warehouse somewhere. Nintendo consoles do well for Nintendo games, not so much for 3rd parties.

Portable it's decently more powerful than a PS4, the CPU is better, it's clocked slower but it's not only multiple generations ahead of the one in the PS4 the one in the PS4 was an absolute fucking joke. the Switch 2's GPU in docked is slightly weaker when comparing raw power, but it's many generations more modern, it's more modern graphics api paired with significantly more modern GPU features reduces a lot of overhead, and it's capable of doing many tasks for a fraction of the resources, and that's before you account for the fact that it's newer feature set allows it to do things that you can't do on the PS4. The one weak point the Switch 2 has is that the ram is slower, it's lower latency so when you want to access the ram you can do that a lot faster but you can't move as much into the ram as you could the PS4, but this can be designed around and mitigated completely, there's also a lot more RAM, there's about 8GB of useable to the game ram vs the PS4's 5-6 GB. Lastly there's the storage options, it's significantly faster, and access to data is non sequential.
Overall it's superior by a wide margin, but it's entirely up to the developer to actually use the hardware effectively, which for third parties is not a thing.

In defense, most Switch 1 games that don’t lock their FPS can easily run at 50–60fps when you overclock the console. The reason it was underclocked in the first place was for battery life. I assume the Switch 2 is in the same situation and will probably run more stably with its new hardware. But we’ll need to wait until the Switch 2 is hackable to prove my statement.

This is going to be the Switch 2. Shit ports of last gen games and shit/no ports of current gen games with the only people caring being first and second party devs.

Awkwardly priced for what it provides, using tech like Micro SD express which Nintendo has to hope catches on while their gamecarts cost too much to produce at high storage levels in a landscape where literally no one but Nintendo is optimizing file sizes.

Their eShop is a fucking trash heap of AI shovelware that barely works, no one is upgrading their Switch 1 games to use the Switch 2's power, third party ports are all shit and Nintendo has the gall to go

They targeted 30 FPS and (usually) got it, aiming for a normalfag-friendly focus on graphics instead. Switch 2 targets 4k60 in docked mode and whoops, it's actually getting sub-1080 upscaled to 4k (if that), and few games reach 60 FPS.
Also, admittedly I forget if the Switch 2 does interpolated frames. It does, I think?
Doesn't help all(?) current S2 games are literally just Switch 1 games but with some added clutter to justify selling it for the Switch 2 as if Nintendo got blindsided by their own release date and had to cobble something together to not release a console with literally zero games, so everything out so far just looks "okay".

Nah, handheld Switch 2 is a little better than docked Switch 1, from what I hear.
IIRC, the Switch OLED's screen is even better than the S2's screen, which makes the comparison kinda funny.
Not like portable matters at all anyway, the damn thing dies after two hours playing the average game, so you're not playing that thing on the go.
