The thing I hate about midwits like this guy, is how they just produce a checklist and ignore how any aspect of the game actually plays out or works with other aspects.
Like fuck bro, "muh conspiracies" has been /lit/fag central for decades on decades. DX wasn't doing anything strange there. What it did do was use the material it sourced and/or invented in a mostly-coherant and enjoyable way, with compelling storytelling that fits well alongside how you play in different levels/areas.

It's fine and dandy to say that but it's not fair to characterize verbal condemnation as not counting as "encouraging" a particular playstyle. A first time player hearing NPCs criticizing his chosen gameplay method is absolutely being "encouraged" to play differently, especially if there aren't as many other such NPCs giving "encouragement" in the opposite direction. Whether or not it has impact on the actual game experience doesn't matter to anyone but people who have since completed the game and analyzed the event flags of the story; it's the perception that matters.
