The Ps2 games deserve their own collection and Digital Eclipse pretty much just throws roms inside an emulator with minimal fixes. This is one of those scenarios where less is more and instead of the side games they should had limited themselves to the core series, the fact we are not getting MK4 Gold sucks.
Furthermore if you have played Digital Eclipse collections before you know what to expect, a experience slightly better than using emulation and fan patches but not by far.

Mythologies and Special Forces need a complete overhaul like what Nightdive usually delivers.
I am still mad that the physical versions are handled by LRG, what a rip off.
Prepare to pay up $500 + shipping and handling to scalpers for an edition that will arrive exactly after FOMO wears out and you are left wondering why did you ever think buying a $20 rom pack for $500 was ever a good idea?

the MK games were always about fighting other players, and actually attempting to run the CPU was intentionally bullshit to run your pockets empty. you're not getting a single bit of accommodation besides a rewind feature for this collection, it's not in Digital Eclipse's interest or effort for an emulation pack to try to rework the AI.

Since this is a MK thread I should probably just ask this here but is the 2023 version still trash? I never see anyone bring it up. It seems like it was forgotten pretty fast. What’s the go to MK game right now for online play? 11?

Really only MK2 was like that. Sure, the AI was cheating in MK1 but it was easy enough to beat even for button mashing kids. MK2 was proper bullshit on any difficulty and went way beyond simple button reading advantages such that like SSF2T-US levels of cheap cheese was necessary to win. They mostly learned their lesson for MK3, no doubt due to complaints from arcade operators (bullshit difficulty loses money on average, most arcade operators aren't lucky enough to find an angry autist that will credit feed his way to Motaro)

What's so great about the 6th gen games? Why do people care? 3d fighting games are over.

It's generally called one of the shittiest games ever. If you want to go with reviewers, it was the first (and only?) game to ever get a 0 in EGM. It's a shitty port of UMK3 by a Bongoloid shovleware dev with terrible controls, massive input lag, poorly programmed AI and glitches out the ass.

It’s still garbage. Don’t waste your time. I still play X and 11 sometimes. I haven’t touched MK in like a year. They burned away all the good will they had been building up with that turd. Even though 11 was kind of shit too now that I think about it.

MK Aftermath and later on UMK11 launch fixed the game and addressed all the complains that I had at the time, reason I found it weird that MK1 was announced soon after MK11 was unfucked. MK1 amplified everything wrong with MK11 with noticeable meddling from WB games. If anything the fact that they are announcing that MK is going back to its roots, and don't get me wrong I have been wanting a collection of the old games for some time, well it is desperate because NR is conscious that their reputation was damaged by MK1 and I doubt WB games will let them do something like Shaolin Monks ever again, and with the new lore, they would need something a kin to that to fix the story.

Pretty much sums up my feelings about the entire thing. MK11 in its current state is a decent enough game. I still see no reason to stick with MK (2023.) Almost makes you wonder where they go from here after this collection? I can’t say that I’m very interested in anything that follows up on 2023 and its shit ideas.

Don't they have one more announcement? This would be an instant buy for most people. This feels like a no brainer because the game is still stuck on PS2 and original xbox. You can't play this backwards compatible on xbox without having to use some sort of emulator or work around.
