I have heard good things about the movie. We should get a trailer pretty soon. A proper trailer, not that super WIP thing that was posted years ago.

In terms of the film, it's very surreal. It follows the plot of SH2 for the most part, but it's more like a Terry Gilliam film. I know people who saw a cut, but I've never seen it myself. Apparently major distributors were very wary of the film because of its surrealism and also the sex abuse themes that are central to the story.

It's being directed by the hack who made the first movie, so it likely will be a stinker.
To be fair, it's not an easy task to make a movie out of these games, since the meat and potatoes of the experience is exploring the town and the various indoor areas, looking for items, solving riddles, etc. The story that is there, while great, isn't enough to sustain a cohesive feature length movie. Just look at the first movie. It's this bitch wandering about the place with no apparent story being told and then you get a massive exposition dump at the end to try to make sense of it. Audiences unfamiliar with the IP were left wondering what the fuck that was all about.
Also, these people just can't capture the eeriness and dread of those games. It all rings fake, weeby and fan servicey; not horrifying and serious like the source material.

It can't be worse than Revelation and I survived that train wreck in theaters.

There's still no official trailer for this btw. Konami scrubbed the one they released last year.

The cinematography and the smart use of cgi and special effects was the only truly good part of the original film. And that cinematography was genuinely some really good shit.
Acting and story was terrible.
