Halo 3 ruled the world when it came out and nothing has ever come close to it. Why?

>there's still no other social online shooter game where you can find people to play with in matchmaking, queue up the next few matches and eventually pull them to an open custom games lobby or campaign
>all shooters nowadays drop everyone into the main menu after a match, requiring you to find other randoms
No one knows how to make good social experience games anymore. Reach kind of did add a few things better like the psych profile allowing you to optionally match with people more akin to who you're looking for but that's it. It's just Halo 3.

It had so much content it felt like 3 games in 1. The level of greed in the industry prohibits games rom giving you that much shit with no strings attached.

I think this is the main reason why. Nowhere else could you find people you wanted to be your friends and after kicking each others asses and bad mouthing each other just play a game of duck hunt or trash compactor

Because halo is an expensive AAA game not easily replicable by anyone. Plus finding the right talents and company to make it possible is just too much.

I'm a Britbong in an environment where Playstation dominates but even then every single person I knew bought a 360 to play Halo 3. You're just a broccoli haired Gen Alpha faggot so you probably don't remember any of it.

It had solid multiplayer that wasn't bloated.
Less than 10 choices makes things more digestible.
I think it's annoying as fuck when games have 50 guns with 100 attachments, but that is the norm today.
I also don't want to be locked into playing a character class like most games today.
Halo 3 was simple AND HAVING 4 PLAYER SPLIT SCREEN ONLINE ON A FUCKING 360 WAS FUCKING AMAZING.
It has a lot of things games don't do anymore.
It's pretty obvious, but the money people at the top don't play games, so we'll never see it again.
It's why Halo 4 wasn't fun. Adding shit doesn't make something better.
Tight. Clean. Polished. Fun.
Especially in a competitive game. People always have "meta" and excuses why they lost. Halo 3 was just "I have quicker reflexes and elbowed you in the face faster", or "i hit you with a sicky". It had very little 'meta' to complain about.
It was very satisfying to play, even when you lost. It didn't feel like you got killed because you're 100 hours behind and haven't unlocked the guns. You got killed and it was fair.

At my secondary school I knew exactly one guy who had a PS3, everyone else was playing Halo. Until CoD 4 came out and most of them turned into the "lowest common denominator" audience we've been complaining about for many, many years since.

And despite all that 75% of people use the exact same gun with the exact same attachments because it's objectively the best weapon in the game.

Remember postgame lobbies? People just trash talking the entire time it was so funny. God I miss Halo 2/3 online.
