I sunk 20 hours into GoA and just couldn't, and RF is my favourite series. I get that it's a spinoff and went in with the idea that things like crafting would be cut, but it just doesn't feel like RF. The exploration is great, combat feels like a step up, but everything else just doesn't feel great. All crops in farming may as well be identical in that they grow in 3-5 days, but more importantly have no dopamine upon harvesting. In previous RF games you'd get a ton of runeys and skill ups to the point that harvesting a field halfway through the season felt fucking great, but GoA has none of that. The social functions also seem stunted with characters not really having any dialogue, just one box of some generic comment that makes up the "conversation" that day whereas previous entries had something unique for each day, usually at least a couple year's worth. I dunno, it's been over a month since I've gone back to it (stopped at the astral gate stuff) and it just feels too lacking even if I appreciate them trying things.
