Ideally you record the location of all mines, but the best you can probably do during a war is get a rough record of the minefield's coordinates, and then you block off access to the whole area until it can be thoroughly swept and checked later. Some mines also have built-in expiration/self-detonation mechanisms, but that isn't 100% fullproof and UXO isn't just mines; there's a probably mountain of that shit in Ukraine by now
