Tactics Ogre proved that Squeenix is fucking stupid, though.
>Rent Tactics Ogre on PSX when it released
>Loved it
>Rented it again so I could finish it
>Year later
>Rent it again because there aren't a lot of games like it or as good as it
>Later learn of emulation
>Find out Tactics Ogre is on SNES
>Play it again
>PSP later releases, get Tactics Ogre on SNES emulator on hacked PSP and play it yet again
>Start to lament that all I do is play Tactics Ogre (and Final Fantasy Tactics) because there are no good alternatives ever releasing
>Desperately start playing Tactics Ogre/Final Fantasy Tactics GBA spinoffs, which I disliked, just because I had no alternatives
>Then PSP release of Tactics Ogre releases
>Play it yet again
>Years pass of playing those two games on and off because there is no replacement
>Squeenix re-re-re-releases Tactics Ogre yet again
>100th time playing the same game with the same story and characters and levels, but with an additional hook and mechanical changes
At some point, the people who buy these games became big blubbering pussies afraid to demand new games. There is some joy in being able to play these games again, but they are playable on almost anything already. There is absolutely no reason that they shouldn't make new characters and stories and do spinoffs or sequels. Someone may point to the shitty GBA games as evidence that it wouldn't work, yet anyone who does that conveniently dodges that they are dumbed down for children with simple stories. Now that Final Fantasy Tactics is releasing yet again, I can't help but wonder why the fuck they spend years releasing the same game instead of making a new fucking game. They said they recreated the entire game from scratch, so why the fuck did they even do this? If a game costs 95% as much to make as a new game, why not just make the new game? I'm so fucking tired of playing Tactics Ogre and Final Fantasy Tactics. I'm so desperate for a new game that I even tolerated Fell Seal.
