If the game is single player and the only strategy viable is this then the problem is the developer is shit and can't make a challenging map.
If anything making a multiplayer game is easier because you outsource the challenge in the game design to the community.

Age of Mythology solved these issues back in the day. It's not anybody's fault but the dev's for not following up on it. Paraworld got it but the germans blew too much money on production even when not needed. It is what it is.

>spend every mission turtling for 20 minutes to create a deathball that flattens the map
>wonder why you get bored halfway through the campaign
You need to force players to have fun otherwise they're just going to ruin the game for themselves every time

You need the single player NPC normoid audience to fund the game for multiplayer chads

None of them.

It depends. It depends on the genre of game, and even the individual game to an extent as well.

The is a problem that stems from base building. It removes management of your units in favor of retarded minutae that don't matter.

The end result is players just select all + m1 on the enemy base once they've collected enough resources/turtled long enough.

It is the stupidest "gameplay" imaginable but there is a diehard group of people who argue incessently that it's what they want (and thereupon, don't actually buy or play any of the games that keep coming out and giving them 'what they want')

Meanwhile all the successful RTS games are now basically RTT games. RTS is effectively dead outside starcraft/TA/supcom.

Poles solved this over two decade ago by giving campaign a time limit and persistent units/resources. It teach you to not just blob and attack move but also hurry the fuck up because the end of the world won't fucking wait for you.

I miss tower defense games, the only choices these days are orcs must die which is cringe or gacha slop like the one you posted, grim times for tower defense enjoyers.
I do play Bloons TD 6 sometimes, but I wish there was something else.

Yep. RTS "fans", especially of the "I'm a dad now I don't have time to play", or "C&C were my favorite games growing up, where are all the good RTSs?" are the biggest fucking retards around and no company should ever waste time listening to their opinions. Similar to what happened with arena shooters, but even worse.

Anyone crying that they need a SP RTS experience first should post the last five sp RTS games they have bought. I doubt any of those fucking malformed cripples have bought any in the last six years.

I bought AI War, all of it's expansions and AI War 2 with all of it's expansions.
I also bought Creeper World 1, 2 and 3.
I don't know any other SP RTS outside of those made by Arcen games and Knuckle Cracker but I'm open to recommendations
