i thought i was getting into a cute shortstack animal crossing game.
instead i got a kickass oldschool character action game, that i can never suggest to the friends who i KNOW would love the gameplay, because the fucking thumbnail is a huge titty furry.
i have 35 hours played, since i played through every class to completion.

Grounded
i thought it was a fun character action style bug fighting semi-horror game
instead i got a pretty alright survival crafting early access game that barely limped across the finishline before shoveling out the exact same game in a new engine for grounded 2
200 hours between my solo playing and a few run-throughs with mates.

part of the problem is that /v/ suggests a game, i go in with as little info as possible, because i love playing games blind, and it turns out the thing /v/ gushed about was some weird side content added in 0.8, which wasn't updated beyond its tech test..

This game was kino, but the problem with this game is once you figure it out, it's too easy, no matter which start you pick.

The performance sucks too, eventually you get so fast you're constantly stopped because the game has to load the next zone and no mods can ever fix it. AI Pathing also sucks.

Overall I had fun, but it lost its luster after about 60 hours.

Overall I have to say that /v/ has pretty good taste. Even just this year I've played Look Outside and Atlyss from seeing them in random threads.
I am never playing any of that gatcha shit, but it's easy to avoid since I my phone has extremely shitty specs.

Kenshi is alright if you love massive timesink stat grinder games like Mount & Blade. I just wish it was polished a little bit more before they abandoned it for the sequel.
Hell, the required level stat on ranged weapons does nothing, Shek will begin explaining their culture to the party upon entering Shek Kingdom territory even if every member is a Shek themselves, and and Beep has several times more dialogue than any other companion in the game for some reason.

FTFY, I've found plenty of hidden gems on here (Staffer Case, Fight Knight, Pseudoregalia, corru.observer if that counts) but it's a complete crap shoot at times

You surprise me.
That's one pretty solid though. Tons of build autism. Even story is serviceable.
A downside - it takes a lot of time to unlock everything.

I couldn't stand the tutorial, literally everything from gameplay to dialogue takes too long. On top of that I look around and the first thing everyone complains about is the grind?
I might give it another shot, it's still installed, just holy fuck it gave an abysmal first impression. Monster Hunter The World did the same and wound up being good though, so I think it's just par for the course for zipperhead games. Rip.

Yeah, suffered a lot of what rimworld suffered. Once you know what you're doing you just do it. You have to do some kind of autistic roleplay to enjoy it after that.

The problem with kenshi is that there's very little consequences for your actions save a few events, some settlements change but nothing beyond that.
Also i like to call what you mentioned "game with an initial discovery phase".
Anonymous No.718847760
kenshi is kino
>random music just starts rarely, usually its silent
>combat animations
>balancing
>pre-nerf swamp where spiders were constantly wiping out the town and the factions were at civil war constantly with spiders coming in to rape them and you run through thinking you are safe but its actually just spiders everywhere and some guys with out legs crawling back to the bar to drink after the latest spider attack
>skeletons
>space lasers and zanzibart tier enviornmental storytelling

the only thing bad about it is base building is really ass. making some production setup in a town is good, trying to make a fort is terrible due to food distribution oversights in the games systems, among other things.
Anonymous No.718847919
Kenshi is okay, but you really need to not even start with base building, it sucks the fun out of the game immediately.
Also, the world reacts way too little to your actions. You can essentially just look at every area once and then put it aside, because there's nothing really to do.
I had hoped this would change eventually when I bought it way back on Desura.
