How the FUCK do you get stronger at this game?

I've been playing for about two weeks now, I can beat most of the careers for the Umas I've got, and I've got a few cards saved up, but I only have two 3* Umas, I'm not even close to having 30k Carats to pull, so I'm not getting any more Umas or merges anytime soon, and I certainly don't feel like I'm getting much stronger.

It's all about Sparks for inheritance, okay, so I need to get 1100 Stamina so I can start getting Stamina sparks. Except if I try for 1100 Stamina my run dies because I can't get enough Stamina without making huge sacrifices in other stats and skipping optional races.

So, am I just meant to get 600 Speed 600 Stamina and pray for that 5% chance for a 3* Spark to proc? Is that really all I can do?

i do not think is a straight, 5% at 600, then 10% at 1100, but more of a gradual increase. getting stamina sparks is harder than speed btw.
IMHO, saving carats this early is a dumbass idea. ive pulled like crazy in the first several weeks, and as a result got shit cards (0lb kita, and mlb hishi, bourbon and kins SRs thoughever) but also whole 24 different characters. reading their stories, doing their careers, and reading the main story is the majority of so called "progression" for me.
Also, for stamina sparks, dont go full retard for stamina, a 3speed 3stamina deck works, maybe a 2speed 4 stamina would be easier though. find a 9* stam parent (try uma.moe), get the best stamina you have (getting a 6* shouldnt be that hard) and do careers that require long races (Stayers like Rice, McQueen, maybe Rudolf, Mayano also) until you get at least a 2* stamina spark. then use your 7* parent and the 9* to eventually get a 8*, and then 9* stam parent of your own.

Apparently it is set breakpoints. And, unfortunately it's not even 5%, because it's gott'a roll that stat first. So it's 20% chance and then 5% after that, pretty brutal.

yes. 600/600/600 got me my first 3* spark after around 100 career runs. The rest came relatively quickly after that. Over a month later and I have 3 3* stamina and 2 2* stamina. I still don't have a 9* because I kept mixing my initial 3* power into them but 6/3 power is fine.

If they have good enough sparks and cards they can afford to, I believe you just need to get third place to get the skill points out of racing too. If you're scared you can select like 1 or 2 decent signature skills early on and save for the rest
But yeah it's just in hopes of getting fast learner or more discounts
Also you have more information and control on what skills are available, I had a run where swinging maestro and professor of curvature didn't get a hint until the last 2 months, coming up with 600ish points at that part of the run is a tall order if you just spend to 0 every race

If you're f2p it's just slow, you can also choose to not wait to 30k to pull, but the reality is that you're gonna only pull on one or two banners a year because that is a waste not waiting for sparking. Especially considering a lot of free carats are from pvp and your account will need meticulous planning and time for that to work

So the play for a game like this (Japunese, stingy, spark banners) is actually to play as little as possible and collect all the free gibs from logging in and daily races for about 6-9 months. You really shouldn't care about a lot of this because sparks and support sharing gets buffed a lot the longer the game is out. If you are trying to get anything close to many of the umas you see on this site without paying or doing a lot of meta rerolls it's just not going to happen very often if at all. Take it slow and play the long game.

You win by logging in for a year when other quit after a few months. Eventually you catch up and will have lots of selection from rolling banners. But until then any attempt to speed yourself up is really a self-brick.

Uma musume is knowledge game. You can't spend money into a properly built horse. Biggest advice i can give you is to plan your run ahead of time into what kind of uma you're building. A team trials uma will likely need a different deck than a parent uma or a pvp uma.

Not quite how that works. It's pari-mutuel odds, and they are constantly changing up to the race starting. It's roughly the amount of money a bet will return, not including the original bet.

Typically a standard straight bet is $2, so a "2" means $2x2 plus the original $2, so the $2 bet would return $6. Except then there's "takeout" so it will actually return slightly less than $6. (the house rakes a percentage of the total pool).

The odds are determined by all the money bet to win on every horse, the more a horse gets bet the shorter his odds get because he represents more of the money in the pool.

It's difficult. You need high to max level support cards and 9* parents to get the required stats to win. For me stamina/power parents and borrowing MLB Kitasan were the keys to getting enough stats to win, after that it's a huge freaking RNG gamble whether you get all or even most of the debuff skills you want or whether the skill hints give random ass skills.

S Turf Medium does not mean SHIT if your other stats/abilities arent up to par. Aim for Stats and abilities first, if you can get S+ medium that will make them much better. But if you want to actually win worry about stats and abilities. You just need better RNG for speed rainbows, keep trying. Thats barely any time at all. You get better slowly over time as you understand the game more. There is also unlocking potential. The main way you "pay to win" is cards but people have gotten good enough cards to be able to make solid Umas that win PvP. At this point, you should focus on other things. Grab trophies and just keep playing.

Sparks are just luck. Borrow someone's 9 Star spark and hope you get one eventually. They will add systems later that make it easier. As for sparking, other anons can correct me, but its only necessary for cards and probably only for the really good ones (like Kitisan Black). It's not like Mihoyo's games where you can only get shit on the banner. Everything is added to the pool. This goes for the Umas and cards. Id say if you are rolling for Umas, try to have 30K (or about 28.5K if you have any paid Carats which you can get from the monthly pass) but most likely you don't need to spend them all. More copies means you get slightly more stats so unless you are a whale or REALLY like an Uma, get the one you want and bounce. As for cards, if you have a solid deck then you can wait. I consistently make B+ (and even an A) with a fucking R card, but I'm hardcore saving. If you want to get powerful through the gacha, it's all about cards. You don't even need the SSRs, max broken Gold cards a great too.

But just enjoy the game. Its a marathon not a sprint

You will never build a perfect uma, there will always be something that could've gone better, an extra rainbow in a summer training, a golden inspiration instead of regular, an extra hint for a better ability. RNG is cruel and when it's fucking you over step back, breathe in and when you have a cool head i recommend you plan the type of run you want to have. You have good cards, but do you have a good parent uma? Don't kill yourself over a single CM there will be a million of them. Your ace WILL come you just have to plan ahead have patience and a little bit of luck

In the beginning of a run, it's pretty likely you'll get mood ups naturally through cards or random events. If you get a mood down to a bad, that's when I do a recreation. Recreation can also cure illness if it takes you to the shrine. If you get Karoake as recreation, it doesnt raise energy but it gives you two mood boosts instead of one. Then if you go anytime after the first year, there's the chance of the claw machine which can raise mood again and get you skill hints.

I only do recreation if I have bad luck with moods but you do want to be in great because Mood bonus is a thing, check your cards to see how much the mood bonus is, but it's an important multiplier. Early on in the career you're more trying to build affinity with support cards so it's fine if your mood builds slow, but you want to hold on to that great mood for the second half of your run. The faster it gets up there the better, but only do recreation when training, resting or doing a G1 race doesn't really make sense, that or do it if your mood is awful/bad and you're out of free mood raises from your card events.

Claw game can happen randomly when you chose recreation on classic year and senior year. In my experience it's mostly a last ditch effort too get corner recovery hints and not something really worth prioritizing (unless you want that claw game title)

She's used in whale decks as an MLB card because when maxed out she gives you extra stats while training and reduced rate of failure, she has events that can cure mood and fix bad conditions + give you skillpoints and energy in one turn. It's at its strongest in a deck of MLB SSR cards, and Tazuna should be MLB as well. She gets better at 1LB due to the increased training effectiveness, but just a really good card to round things out when your other cards are also stupidly strong. Even as 0LB she's useful to bring along if you're just having shit luck and want to get through a career to fix bad conditions and all that. Her recreation event 2 and 5 are the ones that fix bad conditions btw, but you got to raise her support level to get up there. She just makes training way more easier.

There's a pretty good chance your recreation will take you to the shrine. Once you get the shrine, there's another chance that it might not fix it. But if your bad condition sends your mood down, sometimes you can kill two birds with one stone. It might be worth to do a recreation first, and that might cure your condition without having to go to the infirmary (which isn't guaranteed either and is rage inducing)
