find big mountain, spend several days hollowing it out, get bored before i actually build my base in it

Extremely specific and autistic:
>Find place by the sea with flat area of land
>Find hill
>Dig in a specific tunnel i line the sides with barrels for crops
>make square room thats like 9 5x5 squares
>Each section becomes a comparment for something eg enchanting table
>Opposite to entrance is stairs to bedrock
>Already add a fish tank in a wall and rooted earth/roots for the roof between log supports

I think i got into the habit because its easy and quick and looks decent for a starter base.

find a plain biome and put everything on the ground, bed made houses irrelevant and redundant, you don't even need to light up anything

I always pick an island off the coast and try a theme. This time i'm going for a volcanic vent that transitions to marsh then gravelly desert but i'm doing it in a badlands only single biome challenge world so i need traders and shit for certain materials.

it's a plague. mojang should literally make beds spawn creepers around you unless you put up walls and torches

Yup, its gaming time

Wait a minute, you're telling me you are actually supposed to put blocks back down? For 16 years I've only been picking them up...

did any anons ever look at the wiki when they first started off and get inspired
https://minecraft.wiki/w/Tutorial:Shelter_types?oldid=139165
made me want to build a big ass island fortress despite the fact that it's not like shelter matters much beyond having enough light to not spawn enemies + having a layer of blocks that stops mobs from pathfinding to you

Go to a lesser mountain, dig my way into it and then just expand underground/to the sides if I need to. Eventually small wooden structures come out of the mountain for a nice change of scenery.

i always go for one of two houses because i am very uncreative.
1. a single ladder covered by a traphole that leads into an underground room
2. a door in the side of a cliff, with a room i carved out

i tried changing it up once and making a giant lighthouse, but it looked like complete shit. Like a giant cigarette made of cobblestone and planks

I generally adapt to my environment. I remember one of my best survival games where I created a base suspended from a single tree.

maybe i should play minecraft again...

Either a wood half finished half assed house just to have a few chests and furnace and I spend the rest of my game hauling my items with me all the way to the End, or I find a village, make a wood house with the wood near them and then expand.

>want to build something fancy
>but unless I download a mod that affects spawns then I have to slap lighting everywhere
It's something Mojang should have fixed a long time ago. Doesn't matter what you build; walls, closed building, etc. If it doesn't have every square inch lit up than fuck you mob spawn.
or did they actually do something useful for once since I haven't played in a few years?

I love to building brown bricks, to make my house, placing brown bricks with minecrap to make your house is the best thing and the most amount of fun you could posibly have.

Preferably close to a village, but far enough away that they don't think I'm one of them. The building is either in the side of a hill, atop a hill, or on an island. I will construct it from stone and granite, if possible, and create a wall that encompasses the village to keep it protected. If an island, I make a bridge to the village. Iron golems are constructed to keep them safe, cats found and dogs as well.

Just get a mod with invisible lights. I usually make an Ars Nouveau spell for that. Even if you don't plan on using the rest of the mod, it's worth having the spellbook just for unlimited torches.

2021 they changed it. It used to be monsters spawn light level 7 or lower, now it's only at light level 0, which is a great change, except it lowered spawn rates drastically, so that should've been buffed to compensate.

I don't have one, I just get a bunch of wood for pickaxes, get a lot of meat and go digging aimlessly until I run out of food/wood.
That's how I always played Minecraft.
