I started enjoying shows again after realizing this, they have to make everything dumb, they have to say their motivations out loud, they have to repeat points, etc. just to appease creatures with lower intelligence.
Watching a movie with a woman, how often she will ask you to explain something that's implied or easily understood with context clues, those will clue you in on why most art can't be great.

I'm more surprised how so many people ate it up and praised it to high heavens as a great adaption or just a great show in general.
If you like it, that's fine, more power to you, but the show had so many flaws in writing and characterization that it's baffling people praised it to such a degree.
If you pay the slightest amount of attention, you can see a lot of errors, yet many people acted like it was flawless. I genuine do not understand how it flew under their radar like that.

The games are surface-level entertainment too. New Vegas is a fun shooter-rpg hybrid where I shoot lots of things, loot lots of things, and do fetch quests for dipshits in a quirky setting. Its not some great story filled with deep meaning. People liked the tv show because its f u n .

I would agree with you if not for my more normie friends praising the show too. I honest to God had a conversation with them where they didn't seem to realize the issues until I pointed out glaring flaws in the show and they kept saying "yeah, I was wondering about that too" with each one I pointed out. I couldn't tell if I was being placated or if they were honestly coming to realize how dumb a lot of the story is. they're not the kind of person to do the former.

That was the capital of the NCR and by the time of new vegas they had already annexed most of whole west cost and established a functional government infrastructure.New vegas happens well after it was mainly the NCR that beat the Enclave, the OLD US Government. Shady sands getting nuked at that point time is a pretty big deal.
