>gaming companies spend millions and millions to sponsor streamers to play their games
>turns out that all of the big streamers are all botting
So does that mean that gaming devs have spent millions and millions of dollars on fake marketing, something that could have been spent on the game itself instead?

It wouldn't have been spent on the game, just wasted elsewhere. Remember these are corporate dogs.

among influencers and streamers and all that bots have become a huge scam, even comments and likes are bots now, so is not just the views but the fake engagement too.
Anonymous No.718867994
The fact that the twitch streamer has a bunch of viewers, whether or not they're real, is in itself the marketing.
You don't even have to watch it, just being tangentially aware that your favorite retard has 4000 viewers when he plays xyz IS the marketing.
Or have you not seen how fucking often people post twitch viewership numbers on here as evidence of a game being good or bad?

Forsen kept getting botted by a random chatter. He's spoken about it a few times before but he'll just randomly have 20k+ viewers once a month and he assumes some retard buys them for a night after they get wagie money.
Still though 8k when he usually sits around 10k is pretty good.

YT is better in every single way both for the streamers and the viewers
Anonymous No.718869974
I heard a streamer talk about this. He claimed that most sponsored shit hasnt used viewership to determine pay in years. Instead they use different metrics. I think he said the same thing with followers or donors since of girls have lots of them but their viewers per hour would be absolute shit.

I don't get why people are obsessed with having a large number instead of meaningful engagement. If even one person gives a genuine compliment or comment, that means a lot more than having people believe there's thousands liking my posts.

A lot of streamers aren't botting themselves, but certain twitch categories are viewbotted to all streamers who stream there, for example, if you stream genshin impact you'd get double the viewers than if you stream wuthering waves, but not because there's thousands more people watching but because mihoyo view bots all streams to appear as if the game is more popular than it really is.

You ever been watching a stream with a lot of viewers and there's just chunks of the chat spamming emote walls? I always wondered whether or not some of those people were real or just bots. I can understand wanting to be part of the crowd but to do it minutes at a time was always weird to me. Wouldn't you rather say words and chat?

No shit, I was there when justintv was still there, there were streams with 10 people that had a more active chat than some people with thousands of watchers right now on twitch.

personally i think Twitch specifically is a millenial thing. They got addicted to the parasocial streamer friendsduring a vulnerable time in their life, finding acceptance in a stream community.
Now as they age many grow out of it, and those who remain are the hopeless cases.

I'm not an expert on zoomers but they don't seem to be on Twitch. i think the engagement algorithm has been refined with new social media like TikTok, that triggers dopamine more efficiently in short bursts.

Why bother trying to chat if the room is filled with screaming retards? Your options are basically try to speak and be completely drowned out, sit it out, or join in the retarded hooting.

I hope twitch dies and YT takes over as the go to streaming platform, or some new better platform comes along. The way twitch implements ads is infuriating.

You get more money from ads/sponsors/memberships as number goes up
People don't stream for the community or engagement. It's a consequence they have to deal with in the pursuit of money.

Exactly. The second they realized thirsty donos and low-effort "hot tub" content brought in more money than actual gaming, it was over. The site's soul was gutted and replaced with a virtual strip mall. Even the "Just Chatting" category is 90% people farming simps or reacting to content more entertaining than them. Twitch used to feel like a community-now it's a digital Red Light District with tier subs.

the only "proper" way to use twitch is to search for the game you are currently in to and pick someone with a low amount of viewers. Also never chat, follow or anything like that. Plus use the alternate player to skip ads. be a 100% loss for twitch.

feels like in the beginning the streamers were grass roots doing it for fun.
Then they coasted off that "golden age" for a while, becoming more and more corporatized as time went on.

I remember at one point many streamers actively rejected the subscription system when it was first introduced, because they didn't want to monetize their friends and what they did as a hobby.
Now, its everyones goal to "get partner".

And those camwhores would be the least likely people to go to the original JTV.
