video games in general have been ruined by corporate greed. Every game now a days has micro transactions or paid dlc along with some kinda progression system. Ie every fucking game you play regardless of it having micro transactions or not is going to have some kind of meta system, currency, items or cosmetics to grind. And some games are going to give you the option to pay for that stuff. And I feel like thats the life cycle of modern games it that regardless of whether or not the game itself is free or you pay 30$ for it theres going to be some kinda hook to keep you in the game grinding.
You arent going to see another game like Starfox 64 anymore and I mean yeah to some extent games 20 years ago had that aspect too but it wasnt the entire game. Now you have entire youtube guides up to min max your game or have the perfect cookie cutter builds etc etc and I feel like in general that idea has ruined gaming because theres no more exploration or discovery because everyone is even going to research a game before buying it and ask if the grind in the game is worth their time or what kinda build they think they are going to play based of what XxGrubbyXx tells them is fun or effective. Functionally you play any multiplayer game and everyone is going to be running the same builds as the pro players
Regardless of Star Wars I feel like modern gaming is shit because of the nature of the industry designing games as like a second job and the nature of internet culture data mining everything and min maxing builds and posting guides and videos. I mean whats the point of even playing games anymore when it feels more like the game is playing you.
I mean you ever going to have a Battlefront 2 from 2005 where you just jump into the game and everything is just unlocked except the super weapons that you have to perform well in a match to get?
Id ask given this design space and culture of gaming would you even want another Star Wars game?
