- Widescreen Fix
- DXVK for better performance
- Silent Patch
- vbdec + PS2 Radio and Missions Audio quality
- model fixes
- PS2 vehicles models
- PS2 VFX (via ParticleEX and SkyGFX)
- Improved Draw Distance (lod lights, but It configured to affect only building and etc, no light, since IMO It messes up with game atmosphere too much, you can also delete "IIILodLights.*" files from "scripts" entirely If you don't want it at all)
-Various 60 FPS fixes
-Free cam (Control + B) and Debug Menu (Control + M) like in re3.

That's a good term for it, in the 90's it was called grunge thoughbeit. Nirvana has that aesthetic, weezer does it. VTMB does it. It's like the 90's aesthetic but if you were from a rough neighborhood and couldn't afford anything brand new. Driving around clunkers from the 70's and 80s, hand-me-down jeans, you and your buddies getting together in your plaids and home haircuts behind the 7'11 to pose for an album cover beside the graffiti. I remember for a while after that look became popular people would buy already worn out jeans, completely missing the point. No games look like this anymore. Cry of Fear, Manhunt, Condemned Criminal Origins,Swat 4 Kingpin Life of Crime and The Warriors all had it aside from just VTMB. Well aside from one of David szymansk's indie games called Butcher's Creek and the remake of the Half Life2 mod grey called Remorse the List. But you can find maps like it on Garrys Mod and probably no shortage of them. Probably harder to replicate again outside older game engines without resorting to using older lighting techniques of those very engines.

That's peak urban decay.

>harder to replicate
It's of it's time. I think if you tried to emulate it you'd just end up being phony because part of the aesthetic is the authenticity behind it. If you were to make an urban decay game now, unless you were from brazil or mexico it's going to come across as hollow as pic related.

I straight-up admit I wasn't old enough to appreciate the GTA3 soundtrack when it came out.

Dunno but it feels a bit empty and the environment is repetitive

I actually miss when they used to make songs exclusively for GTA.

Now this is what OP meant, there is something unusual about this kind of atmosphere combined with the primitive polygonal nature of every seemingly living thing. And yes I played this as a kid on release.

People ITT like to sperg about ""zoomers"" but you'll see people leaving comments 10+ years ago saying the game had a "weird" and "gray" feeling about it on old videos

I get this same sort of feeling. I got it strongest with bully. They're "open world" but the play area is so small, and the world feels especially dead and fake.
