It really took me a while to figure out why some characters are more popular and some aren't. I see all these arguments people put out like "story" or "design" or "abilities" but it's all inconsistent because they'll bitch about charcters being bad in one and then cum their pants over ones even worse in those areas.

What I finally hit upon is that it comes entirely down to how helpless the chick in question is and how much they rely on Joker (the player) to function. Let's look at this. Makoto and Kawakami are extremely popular and both of them have to essentially have Joker tell them what to do in every conversation, otherwise they're completely non-functional and/or retarded. They need Joker and thus the player.

But then let's look at Ann or Haru or Ohya. These are character who are not 100% reliant on Joker (the player) to function. Yes, Joker will have to ask the right question or something some times but for the most part he's just a sounding board for them to work things out themselves in comparison to the likes of Makoto. These characters are also less popular. Thus popularity is determined almost entirely by how helpless the female is. The more they need Joker to tell them what to think and do, the more popular because at that point they can't function without the player and are little more than glorified fuckbots. Less reliant? Less popular.

No, it's logical. Joker has to tell her what to do at all times. She's a complete fucking moron incapable of thinking or doing anything for herself; despite her age and supposed wisdom she's functionally less capable of existing without help than Futaba. Part of it is the boost she gets from being a party member and then combined with how hard the game shills her (most gamers, especially Japs and normalfags, love whatever characters are shilled the hardest).

There's a logic to it. It's a very stupid logic because you're largely dealing with morons but it's still logic you can work out.
