>claims to be a deep game creation tool that lets you create unreal engine quality games easily with just a controller
>not a single good game has been made in dreams
what a fuckin scam

>"create your own game" games
>place the entire onus of creating gameplay onto the end-users
>without financial compensation

not allowing you to export games and not putting it on PC was a massive mistake
it should've been free with PS Plus or come with the PS5 at the very least

why create anything that will be stuck in this game on one console when you can create something in the real thing and sell it

To be fair this wouldn't be a problem if this was around a decade ago.
At that point the only issue would be the fact that it's too convoluted to be a fun toy to make little games in and not complex enough to use as a game engine.

This. Sony failed the game. it could have done so much for them, but they refused to market it even a little.
>Let people pay to get increased storage space/creation limit
>Add player created hubs/levels for more than 4 players
They could have easily had something similar to Roblox on their hands.

Ask the over 2 decades worth of people who've made mods for free.

>3d sculpting tool that used voxels or some shit so you could create a fuck ton of assets without a performance hit
>in depth no-code game logic creator
>super intuitive animation system
>music creation daw with instrument library in the hundreds
>versatile audio editing tool to create any sound effect
>all running on a base ps4 with no problems
Its crazy how so much thought, effort and genuine love went into this game by such an insanely talented team and everybody with a brain could tell you this was doomed to fail because its limited to console
without a way to export your creation, anyone who put large amounts of time creating something is fighting for the same spot in the 'most played dreams' section as some faggot who made a le funny random animation of mario taking a shit
why waste your time creating something that barely anyone will play?

most annoying part was just how good the 3D modeling side of it was. never once found anything similar on PC, all the SDF tools out there are just nowhere near as intuitive

It's upsetting. They truly made a great product. And look at Playstation today and how they want to use PC to have more numbers in their "ecosystem." Putting dreams on more platforms would have done great for that. They could have even tied certain server tiers to PS Plus. Making money off of this game and growing it would have been the easiest thing. It's frustrating looking at companies led by greedy executives that are too stupid to make easy money.

Why would anyone bother, when Little Big Planet proved that the servers will just get nuked in a few years anyway?

The mistake was selling it as a game creator instead of an experience creator. The idea should have been closer to Garry's Mod than a complete engine.
Another problem was releasing something like this exclusively for consoles. The difference between creating something on a console and on a PC is the same as working for someone else or for yourself.
What you do on your PC is your property. What you do on Nintendo or Sony servers is their property...

That wouldn't change even if it was on PC. You would still be on their servers.

Exactly. Everyone saw what happened to LBP. Years of creativity and amazing community projects just wiped because Sony didn’t want to spend a few bucks maintaining servers. Dreams was doomed from day one because no one wants to pour hundreds of hours into something that's gonna vanish with a quarterly earnings report. Until these companies show basic respect for digital preservation, there's literally no incentive to make anything meaningful on their platforms.
