Justin Wong dominated a harder scene, harder, for longer.
Xiaohai is definitely the icon of longevity though, from kof98 and still placing top6 in sf in 2025, absolutely insane.

Justin only dominated Americans and Marvel Vs Capcom 2. He was great in everything else he did, too, but he never dominated those.

He's without question the goat of SNK, and a consistent top SF player almost decades at this point, but greatest overall player who has ever lived? Idk man

Xiao Hai is to King Fighters what Daigo is to Street Fighter.

Absolutely brutal Grand Finals SF6 on ECW this year. This man can adapt fast even when his opponent has his number and can clutch when all the odds are against him if given just one opportunity. This tournament really cements why he is without a doubt one of the best current fighting games player. He took out Punk, AngryBird (past Evo champions), Kakerusu (arguably the best SF6 player), GO1 and Blaz (who is phenomenal for his age).

daigo wishes he could dominate kof the way xiaohai did. He was the first among peers in a generation of exceptional japanese fighters that did dominate the scene, but he himself wasn't dominant among them.

Mena was pathetic. Got completely trashed this tournament. He is strong against what he knows but a skiller player thrown in the mix and he botches it. Very one dimensional.

Great player no doubt. But he’s not super dominant outside of the much smaller pond of KOF. He tied for 13th at Capcom Cup for example and was 5th at Evo.

To be fair, the KoF scene died after 02 everywhere except China and maybe South America. Street Fighter was still going strong with Alpha 3, 2 Turbo and Third Strike until 4 came along. But I agree. Xiao Hai domination of the scene is surreal. Even these days, few competitors can match him (E.T. and M') and they have a huge respect for him.
