the run past everything phase is boring and the roguelike elements affect very little. It's a shame that it takes up the majority of a session and ultimately is what keeps me from playing as frequently.
It also feels weird when you do things like crater or mountain tops, which seem to have clear level design, but due to the time you're just gonna run past it all the same, so you start asking the question: "Did they really put all this shit here just to pad out the time it takes to run through it all?"
The most the randomization affects is what buffs you get and even after a few runs you've kind of seen everything and there's not much that will completely change the way you play like you might see in other action roguelikes.
The bosses are fun and clearly the best part of the game. Really like the ones like the centaur and nightlord that just have phases where they go completely psychotic. But theyre all ultimately easy since if you do the looting phase well enough, which at this point in the games life span most people can do, you can bruteforce a boss just through sheer stats. Some of the hard mode bosses are easier than the normal mode bosses and maris was the laziest lamest shit ever.
two buttons to sprint makes no sense since 95% of the time you will use big sprint over little sprint at little extra risk. just make the normal sprint faster at this point.
i like souls combat, but this being so focused on it really puts into perspective how important level design and exploration is to those games. A purely action based game mode like this would suit armored core better.
also i cant believe ironeyes playstyle is how some people play these games
