Terrific. Don't know if it's true, but I've come across the same story on multiple ocassions about Rik Schaffer composing this game right after he left prison.

What they're not gonna replicate in the second game is all the club music. Time capsule sort of thing, pretty sad. Product of its time in that way.

I have also heard the same, I think he confirmed it himself actually. Broke, drug addict out of jail, depressed.
It creates a mood.

I doubt they can even afford licensed music in the first place.

>TCR is a tiny indie team with little resources

>Troika was able to build their game in a cave with the box of scraps Activision allowed them to use.

Please do post some better ones in your opinion.
I think the VtMB OST is the best of all times, but I am curious about what others like more.

Not Bloodlines but still VtM. Love these cheesy songs, reminds me of Mortal Kombat: The Album.

I don't get how Rockstar could afford so many A list artists in Vice City and San Andreas. Already by the time of GTA IV/V their access to actual popular music was severely limited and it seems they could only afford no name indie level songs. Did the cost to license music balloon that quickly?

If so then yeah VTMB's access to music really was a flash in the pan, there were like 5 years in the 00s when a video game developer could afford actual music.

Nobody took video games seriously so they didn't think there was any real money to be made. Like Sapowski basically giving away the rights to The Witcher games only to be later saved by a weird Polish law.

I wonder if GTA could afford more famous tunes for VC and SA because these games were set in the past, while 4 and 5 were contemporary. Maybe that also affected the cost of licenced music.

They're also not replicating skills, clans, RPG mechanics, good characters, and quests. They are, in fact, not replicating anything at all except Dishonored: Vampire Edition.

You're right, but at least the music still seems good. I'm not sure if they're using tracks made by Schaffer, but some of them really have that bloodlines sound.
