Respecting geometry, space and time is a fairly easy way to add a lot of depth to your game, and one that can easily be perceived without creating the burden of overcomplexity. Simulate projectiles. Don't use hitscan.

Starcraft lost and is a MOBA. Total Annihilation won and is an RTS.

Do you know what makes an RTS an RTS? It is projectile simulation. If it doesn't have it, then it's a MOBA.

KEK. Zoomers wouldn’t know an RTS if it micro’d its economy and shelled their main from max range. Give 'em a unit with an ability cooldown and they start calling it macro. Projectiles flying through the air? Must be a DnD sim now.

>Seige tanks can't fire straight up into the air to hit the target
fuck off please :^)

It is impossible for the siege tank to hit the target at its maximum range. It would have to move in closer, having strategical implications.
