Game is still too similar to Dota. They need to lean harder into the shooting mechanics. It feels like you're using pea shooters. Here's my suggestions:

Not to mansplain on you homie but she might be one of the worst laners in the game. Her guns limited ammo means you need to slide to use it well so unless you want to reload after every creep you have to slide which exposes you and expends stamina (using cover is a major component of laning outside poopoo MMR). Her poison is probably her only saving grace in lane but that requires an enemy to actually get low in the first place.

She also just had so many bad match ups: dynamo and lash can pop her out of her slide. Pretty much any AoE or stun is her kryptonite. Her gun has the worst range in the game, worst than pocket’s shotgun so you can imagine what it’s like playing against a good vindicta.

Vyper is more of mid-late game carry. Once her bola is maxed and you have a few gun items she has so much potency

Bullet resist or juggernaut is a no brainier if you’re dealing with a haze. If you’re new you might struggle to use stuff like return fire or metal skin but they’re good too. There’s also disarm hex and suppressor. Basically you want to reduce her fire rate or reduce her bullet damage.

As for Geist bombs, well it’s spirit damage so spirit armour (or spell breaker—unironically one of the best items in the game). In lane though there’s also spiri shielding which is a cheap item that gives you a barrier upon taking heavy spirit damage. I play a lot of Geist and the best thing for avoiding bomb is to not corner yourself and keep an eye out for it. I see an enemy walking towards their shop I’m lobbying a bomb over there

I'm not a boomer, but it was too complicated for me.
I liked playing it, but every game was fucking exhausting so I stopped.

Have they implemented any other game modes yet? The game is cool but I abhor the 5v5 team based strategy that takes upwards of an hour or more. Can't have fun with strangers, friends turn to fiends, and everyone is just metagaming anyway because they just want to win without any real thought or desire to have fun with the mechanics.
For me, these kinds of games are fun despite the default game mode. League, Overwatch, and now Deadlock are just different flavors of the same rot.

Scarabs become homing do spirit damage that explode and and light up so you can do a Spirit build like Ball-Seven spamming Scarabs left and right.

Tornado can stay you either use it to get in or out.

Djinn Mark kinda stays same but now the passive active would make Scarabs home to that target (doesn't work because you can multiple targets so just fucking delete the active passive)

ULTIMATE literally when you teleport to a place you get a buff for 10 SECONDS that increase Movement Speed, Fire Rate, Damage, Spirit power, Health, Clip size by whopping 20% also 1-2-5 levels all now decrease the cooldown 0 seconds each level so you can choose to spec in to it or not.

Deadlock isn't sufficiently different than DOTA or LoL so it suffers from nearly 20 years of meta development. You either need to be able to aim out of your mind or already have a good grasp of MOBA fundamentals to play it competently.

In other words, it will run into the same issues every post LoL or DOTA 2 MOBA had to face. The players got too good and many are still glued to their 5,000 hour games, which at a strategic standpoint are just better games anyway. Deadlock appeals to a subniche of MOBA players that want 3D action at the expense of strategic depth, while still requiring the same level of investment to play decently.

tl;dr: The game itself is by nature "hardcore" but at the same time is an objectively worse in gameplay variety than its inspiration. The 3D deathmatch aspect is fun, the strategic plays are 5/10.

As I've understood you farm attacking NPC creeps across several lanes for money/XP (while stopping the enemy from doing the same to your grunts), use that to buy upgrades until you're powerful enough to kill some NPC boss at the enemy base and win the match. Since teams are small and there's several lanes I assume there's a lot of splitting and playing solo and rotating between them to match enemy player numbers or get advantages?

I've played a lot of MMO (GW2) PvP so I'm comfortable with the idea of having to learn a ton of abilities that can be thrown at me, and I love buildcraft (though it seems you make a build on the fly mid-match in this), so this seems like it'd be up my alley.

Yes. The large static NPCs blocking the enemy's base are both sources of gold/XP for your entire team and unlock extra inventory slots when you kill them, so it's something that people will try and sneak damage on or use as a distraction while the rest of the team take an advantageous fight. There's also a capture the flag objective that reveals whoever picks it up on the minimap.

it's dota in a warped format. If you didn't like dota (or similar games) because of the camera view/control scheme then you might still like deadlock. It's far easier to push into the enemy base in Deadlock, that's why it's easier to capitalize on being ahead earlier and end.
Fights happen inside the enemy base in Deadlock all the time and it isn't necessarily just a clean up, in Dota if you have the space and can safely push uphill the game is already over.

Having complicated game systems doesn't automatically makes up for a good game. It may seem like something fun to engage with at first due to the novelty of having steep learning experience in the world of already well mastered game mechanics. That's big point of appeal but once it wears off you'll start seeing all the bad game design choices as is. For one not having level playing field in a shooter game should set off a red flag for any reasonable person with prior gaming experience. It's kind of bullshit which fundamentally breaks the game before it's even out. All multiplayer games by Valve are riddled with bad decisions. They have loyal fan bases but full of shit to anyone getting into with fresh mind and no bias.
