In Tekken am I supposed to play by feel or by thinking rationally like "after he does x move he does y, after b on block he does a, after c on hit he does d, etc" for every or most situations? I feel like I just mash and win, rather mindlessly, the amount of times I have to think in such patterns is when the opponent is extremely flowcharty which isn't the norm. Am I getting carried by playing waifus like a retard?

Consider the following two bits of wisdom:
1) Hesitation is defeat.
2) A man without a plan is not a man.
Now go forth and play accordingly.

Probabilistic thinking. Opponent is at distance x with character y, his fastest moves are a,b,c. Or does opponent prefer counter-attacking?

Thinking about every interaction is obviously retarded and wastes a lot of brain power but you should be at least analyzing how frequently your opponent mashes on plus, after they get hit, when they're down, or what they do to apprpach at distance x.

I do play very probabilistically. But I've noticed charactes like Kazuya (slower character with hard mixups) require more black and white thinking, which in turn requires you to make a very specific call and basically have a literally correct interpretation of what the opponent will do and in what specific patterns. When I play faster characters this isnt a problem because I play by this feel probabilistic style

maybe my pattern recognition can't assuage them

yeah that makes sense
