Dark Cloud 1 is incredibly rough but the atmosphere is godlike, Dark Cloud 2 is an improvement in everything but goes for a more comfy atmosphere which is still really good.
If I had to tell you some hidden PS2 gems, I've recently remembered about a game called Steamboat Chronicle that honestly fits pretty nicely with Dark Cloud 1,2 and Rogue Galaxy with its atmosphere and style, although the gameplay is of course completely different being a game about Steamcharged Mechs, give it a try if you think you'd enjoy this style, however unfortunately I don't think that one is available on PS4
