>cutting costs
>when budgets are more bloated than ever and have worse production values than they did in the past
>it's gotten so bad that industry insiders are admitting that the whole industry is teetering on the edge of a cliff
At some point, people need to acknowledge that none of this is about growing the audience, running a tight ship, or anything that has to do with good business.
Vapid, uncultured narcissists have been installed by the hedge funds.
They want to leave their mark even if they don't know what they're doing.
They like to surround themselves with an army of their fellow retards so that their legitimacy won't be challenged by people who know what they're doing and they can diffuse the blame for their failures. Toxic positivity. And they want to brag about how many employees they have under them and how corporate they are in their operations.
If they legitimately wanted to cut costs, even a midwit who knows nothing about videogames would know that the way to do this would be to fire the people who aren't producing, hire people who will get the job done, and streamline the process so that things get done quickly and less people need to be paid. They want to brag about lording over thousands of employees, and they don't want to be surrounded by people who've forgotten more about videogames, game development, and videogame culture than they'll ever know. Because a small, elite team would make it clear that they're fish out of water.
