If steams features actually mattered you wouldn't be on 4chan v, reddit forums wouldn't exist, studios wouldn't use twitter for posting, game discords wouldn't exist.
The only thing steam has is mod uploading and a built in mod manager, which is still shit because there's no version control for the mods.

The only reason Steam is used is because of the DRM. Long time users won't abandon Steam because they'd lose their library.

I use both of these. Unfortunately, the simple truth is that Steam has basically all the games, and that isn't something GOG, JAST, Epic or anyone can fix because Steam's market monopoly is due to its network effect. Being DRM-free is also a hindrance because publishers hate not having their DRM safety blanket. All GOG or anyone else can really do is either beg publishers for ports or catch the games that Steam bans.

Jap publishers hate DRM-free. They would sooner publish on DMM or DLSite and cut themselves off from western sales before they'll publish on a DRM-free store. Just look at Dungeon Travelers 2. It's on Johren, it's on DMM, but it's not on GOG or any other site despite sizable demand.
