Can someone explain why old games from the past were so fond of using yellow piss filters?

Same as chromatic aberration, film grain, and other visual cancer. It's main purpose is to trick your brain into thinking the game looks more realistic than it actually is.

I hate the "cinematic feel", it just simulates the flaws of gumshoe movies and makes the game graphics shit.

Gamers are why games will never be seen as art, just as toys. You guys are extremely unsophisticated and simple-minded. DURRRRRR WHY IS HE USING CERTAIN COLOR GRADINGS TO EVOKE A MOOD/AESTHETIC???? ME NO LIKE, LET ME “FIX” IT

>buying the cheap early HDMI cables
LMAO you know the expensive HDMI cables had a clean signal that filtered out the piss, right?
Why do you think some HDMI cables were expensive and others were cheap?
You played everything unfiltered? ROFL

What mood is evoked by the piss filter?
If you can't answer your point is invalidated.

>will never be seen as art
Maybe stop being insecure? Art is not solely determined by this shit.

And who cares if they are recognized as art, videogames have mechanics and immersion, something art can't have and never will.
You don't need to force games to become like movies.
