I watched many essays about hopes for upcoming video games. They were hoping for better graphics, for better stories... what about gameplay?
Why are so many gamers so obsessed with story in games? The games they praise for good plot are often games with barebones gameplay, like GTA, Red Dead, or The Last of Us.
Why so many gamers like this?

Gameplay has been a β€œsolved” problem for a while now. What I mean is after decades of trial and error we now know how games should play and work, to the point there’s no longer really any room for experimentation anymore. There’s a reason even tiny new additions to games get copied the moment people show approval of.
