Neat project, superior to the UE5 demaster by virtue of being a fan remake over a corporate reheating. Oblivion's biggest issue (well, after the retconned main quest and ugly visuals) is its might-as-well-be-copypasted caves and forts and this will turn them into Skyrim dungeons, each unique while sharing tileset. Also, making unique weapons actually unique by giving them distinctive models and not just a different name. They'll add more variety to the Deadlands, to other Princes' realms, it's clearly made with love and I have to assume Rebelzize is an actually good project leader/manager because while the likes of Skywind or Beyond Skyrim seem to waste years heading nowhere, this dude has stuck to a schedule for nearly a decade and is managing to release the project without (seemingly) delays. I also feel sorry for what he went through with his gf :(

They still need to extract them, port them, splice them in, adapt them to quests and to whatever differences Skyrim's Creation Engine had from Oblivion's Gamebryo, QA test the entire game so they play right, etc.
You remove the middle step of having to record them yourself like Skywind and Beyond Skyrim need to do, sure, but it's still more work than it'd be to just copypaste a couple text paragraphs and call it a day

This project is not dead at all, and it's a shame if the modders decide to give up. This conversion let people use the Skyrim mods, on the Oblivion world. I would not superficially understimate that potential.

[...] There was talk of holding a torch near important members of the court to see if they cast a human shadow and not some horrible, hunched over clawed thing. Oblivion's plot was meant to revolve around Uriel's heirs being daedric doppelgängers left behind by Jagar Tharn during the Simulacrum, and a Morag Tong-resurrected Tharnatos leading a Daedric invasion while the Empire crumbles from internal politics and the player is involved with the Elder Council, rooting snatchers out with torches and shadows. What you got was a dumbed down version made for people that hadn't played TES previosuly, so all foreshadowing became moot and for a game that starts with the death of the Emperor that was focal to all previous mainline games in the franchise, there's zero fucking weight behind the assassination of him and his heirs: the Elder Council is utterly irrelevant until you need to speak with Ocato five minutes before the main quest ends, and the entirety of Cyrodiil is as cheerful and sunny as ever so you'd never think the whole place is meant to be "crumbling". It doesn't feel like the Emperor died yesterday. Nobody cares. The world doesn't care.

The Unreal Engine is a total pain in the ass to mod, and you're very limited compared to the Creation engine, so the new game Bethesda released, is limited and can easly be overtaken by SkyBlivion, that can not only replicate the same graphics, but do so, without the usual UE stuttering problems.

Oblivion always had this fairly tale tone to it, complete with "By golly Mrs. Henderson, those pesky demons are at it again!" voice acting. The battle of Bruma is 15 dudes fending off 10 daedras while it's business as usual in the nearby stables.

Forum posts are not canon, and the mention of doppelgangers from Morrowind is just hearsay. Also, the death of the emperor means everything: the guards are constantly talking that they fear where the empire will end now that there's no emperor, and seeing daedra everywhere; the Blades failed in their duty and is eating at them, especially Baurus; and random citizens worry about the assasination too.
>entirety of Cyrodiil is as cheerful and sunny as ever
What, you want everything to be dark and grim and broody 24/7? Are you one of those who believes having color is childish? Because you forget Morrowind was extremely sunny too, and the threat was just as dangerous there as the Mythic Dawn is.

Quests are still not fully implemented and they are by far the most time consuming/unfun part of Skyrim modding. No one wants to do that shit in their free time.

Yes, outside posts are not canon. On the other hand:
>We realize that the end of the era will bring many changes. We believe that the gates of Oblivion will open, and the multitude of daedra will roam this world freely. Some might tell you that this is a good thing, that we are descended from the daedra and it will be a return to the natural order of things. I know differently, though. The coming age will be a time of great horror.
>The Daedra Princes are not our ancestors. Nor are they our allies. They will wash over the land, destroying all that man and mer have built over these thousands of years. The only protection from this scourge will be our true ancestors that have gone before us and watch over us even now. Many of our followers choose to participate in the Cleansing, to prepare the way for the rest of us. It is a sacrifice to be sure, but it is for the greater good.
https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Tribunal:Eno_Romari

>%PCClass, the skull of Oddfrid White-Lip is speaking to me, telling me your future. She says...she says you have accomplished much here on Solstheim, and your future is unclear. But wait! She sees something else. Something very cloudy, something that could affect us all. When the dragon dies, the Empire dies. Where is the lost dragon's blood, the Empire's sire? And from the womb of the void, who shall stem the blood tide? I...I do not know what this means. It is very unclear....
