how do you rank the most popular game launchers?
i hate the ones for ea and ubisoft so fucking much

I don't get why in 2025 the Epic launcher still can't make start menu icons. Who the hell is still using desktop icons?

Anyways, Steam is the best. It's not even close. I used to use Playnite until last year, but Steam just got that much better.

And Steam becomes exponentially better once your ecosystem gets more complex. Sometimes I use mouse/keyboard, sometimes I use a controller, and sometimes I use a VR. Steam has a HUB for all of these. It's just brilliant.

I buy on Epic if possible, it's not bloated (I just play games), it's cheaper than steam, and less money gets taken by the store which is better for the industry. Also it makes people really mad for some reason but that's just a bonus

Based take, I've bought a handful of single player games on EGS, I don't get the hate, the only issue I've run into is that some developers neglect their EGS game, like sometimes it won't run properly on EGS when it will on Steam but people will blame it on the launcher instead of the people responsible.

I have too many games on Steam to start buying from other stores in earnest. Having your entire vidya library spread out across multiple storefronts sounds like a nightmare.

Unreal Engine 5 has been a disaster for video games
Also it doesnt matter how much of a cut the creator gets if no one buys their games on Epic. People sell on Steam because Steam is simply more profitable. 70% of ten million is still more than 80% of a few thousand.

Steam is perfect on all fronts outside of it's community moderation. The fat fucking losers moderating shit on this platform make me want to tear my hair out with their assbackwards rules, especially in regards to screenshots/artwork.
