The worst part is there’s no P&P system that’s any good to begin with. Retards cling to broken systems like D&D because they don’t know any better. It was good enough. They learned one system and by god it was perfect.

The latest version of this idiocy seen in discussion about VTMB and the new one. Newsflash: the VtM system sucked. The disciplines scale incoherently, half the time what they unlock was pure ass mechanically and could only be saved by you know, roleplaying? Storytelling? Fidelity to broken systems in a different medium is pure retardation.

I’m surprised there wasn’t more autistic outrage over Rogue Trader but maybe they are all on /tg/.

dice rolls are only fun with a human to determine whether or not what happens. its annoying to have a bad run of luck to ruin everything all the time, so having someone on the other side see your not having fun and fudge the rolls a bit for your benefit makes it a much more fun experience as a whole

Rules are made to be broken. Genres are only useful as training wheels. They're there to aid you, not enslave you.

I mean, yes and no? Often it is the case that the games are simple, poorly support certain playstyles, etc, and here the least they could do is to fully implement the game they are implementing (for example, the Owlcat Pathfinder RPGs don't fully implement flanking rules which makes the stat check alpha strike combat even more of the same with even fewer tactical considerations, and in Kingmaker especially you end up with all kinds of pyjama tank dip monstrosities if you want to make a good martial character, when implementing e.g. fighter armor training feats would go a long way into making base fighter and heavy armor more sensible). Of course people look at the original game and see it already has this fixed.

On the other hand, besides the fact that the systems aren't designed for computers, most noteworthy games tend to implement bad tabletop systems (d20/DnD). And yes, they aren't designed for computers that at the same time enable you to do things you wouldn't necessarily want to do in /tg/ (for example, even if you stick to systems you see in tabletop games, there's basically no excuse not to have opposed rolls, because the primary downside of having to roll twice as much isn't a consideration anymore) while at the same time lack a DM making judgement calls and interpreting mechanics to suit the matter at hand. A system actually designed for computers would look a lot different, like the computer wargame Dominions.

That being said, if OP is objecting to mechanics like dice and tables and cards et cetera, the fact that they are used in /tg/ doesn't necessarily mean they'd be bad on computers. In fact, they tend to be pretty good. It's always a good thing that you can do the calculations in your head and this comes pretty much automatically, dice for example have nice properties like being able to add combat factors with small but meaningful bonuses and penalties to rolls (like stacking -1 penalty for having to fight multiple opponents), etc, etc.
