I really do like MGS4 but yeah it is not good compared to the other metal gears. Has some of the best gameplay, I even slightly prefer it over V. But the fact I can easily beat it in 5 hours sucks, the fact that the game is way more cutscene than gameplay even by MGS standards. The fact that the gameplay nosedives after act 2. The game just isn't good

It's okay for one (1) playthrough.
It should have had a couple more ordinary stealth acts like 1-2.
Act 3 always plays the same way, follow the dude then rail shooting.
Act 4 is just a walk down memory lane, the ball robot enemies are not a threat.
Act 5 is just cutscenes and bosses.

The funny thing is the story gets worse the more familiar with Metal Gear you are. I get how, especially in 2008, a casual fan could get wrapped up in the presentation. Even then though I think the gameplay mostly sucks or is underwhelming. Even the first two acts are passable at best; Act 2 in particular is just MGS3 but worse. Not even the boss fights are very good.

Its very bad. The gameplay is broken up by so many cutscenes theres barely any actual gameplay. The story is ridiculous fan service. I doubt they remake or even remaster this one as it will just prove t9 everyone how shitty it is. I played through this last year on an emulator. I couldn't believe how bad it was after it was all over.

MGS4 is the most well made bad game of all time. The amount of talent and effort that went into making such a misdirected mess makes the game feel like one giant shitpost, which isn't surprising Kojima hated making it and only did it because fans and Konami pressured him to do so.
