The front and center white boy seems like a hail Mary pivot away from DEI. That said, gameplay-wise this does on some level quench one's thirst. Skaters have been parched for two decades. Pre-alpha has shown some improvements (e.g. integration with music playlists is key in skating games, glad they understand that.) Ultimately we all know the fate of this one, live service+diversity, but the jury is still out and the skating itself, which is paramount, is serviceable at worst. Not like you have very many choices to begin with.

The "filmer" voice character you get who directs you and comments on stuff is, instead of a skateboarder with personality like Giovanni Reda, a middle-aged corporate reddit woman who barely tries and fails miserably to use skate lingo. Pretty much every character feels like some out of touch corporate retard phoning in a performance barely even trying to understand the skate terminology on the script.

NTA, skateboarding requires coordination and reflexes. That thing skaters do where they start walking and effortlessly drop their board under their feet takes some insane timing and even the most basic trick, the Ollie, requires a bunch of practice and if you don't synchronize your movements just right you'll fall on your ass. I'm not even fat but I quit skateboarding after years of trying because I realized I'm just too retarded and clumsy for it.

I feel like a boomer hater when I see "x person lands a 900/1080" because the first thing I look for is whether or not they show them actually dropping in on the coping like Tony did for his 900s, or they use a roll-in 10ft taller than the half-pipe itself. Maybe they did. All I have to go off of is the tests I've played here and there over the last year or two where such features were not implemented. It's not a good or interesting enough game for me to seek out developer interviews and insight.
