That's about it, it's not even that expensive, if you're on a tighter budget go for a cheaper card and lower your settings, you don't need to play @ 4k/120fps. Something like a used 4060TI/16Gb should run recent games at decent settings just fine. Complaining about the price of the flagship cards is like going for a luxury car when looking for a new car and complaining that it's over 100k. Maybe buy the Toyota? It depends on your target resolution. If you're playing 1080 or 1440, the CPU matters a lot more. If you're playing at 4k, you're better off shopping for a CPU that meets your use case otherwise, as the GPU is the bottleneck.

It depends what monitor you have and what games you want to play or if you are doing other stuff on your PC.
7800X3D is second best CPU and it's quite cheap right now at around $350. But you might not even need that and then you can just go with entry level like 7500F or 7700 if you want 8 core.
I would get X3D if you play autism sims those benefit the most or if you want to hit very high FPS in esports.

It is ultimately not more expensive to get a PC than a console now, consoles just have built-in payment plans and hidden costs that PC does not have, often doubling the original asking price for a console.
Hardware-wise most consoles are also equivalent to low-mid-range GPUs and low end CPUs, with other components likewise being very low budget, so even at the initial asking price you're looking at a very close race.
>>718942729
Physical only matters if you don't have a good internet connection for downloading the game once. After you have the game on your drive, the only thing that matters is DRM and any external services like servers that may be discontinued.
Consoles by default have a massive issue, because they are not your device to freely administrate and copying files off the physical storage is often more difficult or poses significant issues.

Novidya has a history of sabotage, lying and convincing dev teams to intentionally fuck up AMD implementations of features.
The obvious conclusion though is that not only is this "advantage" only ever going to be temporary (lasting as long as they keep bribing developers and reviewers), but it's going to require them to continue to be interested enough in the gaming market to keep dumping money into it.

same thing, different implementations.
Nvidia's whole "The Way It's Meant To Be Played" campain was about putting in proprietary blackbox barriers like Hairworks that can't run on AMD hardware.
not that AMD is innocent, they had the Gaming Evolved program too. they were just too broke to keep it up.

AMD leans in to open source technologies so that all of their shit can run on Nvidia if Nvidia chooses to implement it, but make no mistake if they weren't consistently sub-20% marketshare they would be just as evil. lisa su is jensen's neice.

Don't ask reddit or /g/, it's just brandwarring.
If you're looking for unbiased benchmarks check out Daniel Owen for gpus, Techpowerup for specific games. Occasionally Digital Foundry and Level1Techs will post a review, usually of high end parts. Hardware Unboxed is basically a shill channel at this point.
5060ti and 5070 are the default midrange options this gen. In the United States AMD has made zero sense for the last couple gens.
5070ti if you're playing at 4k, you fell for vram hysteria, or want to sit on the same card for a decade. PS6 will maybe be compared to a 5070 absolute best scenario, they've already signaled the intent to keep the next console cheap.
If you were the audience for the 5090 or 5080 you wouldn't have to ask for advice.

For processors right now in general it's an am5 x3d, Intel 13600k/14600k/265k if you find them discounted. For "real work" things can be more complicated.

High wattage PSU means you can upgrade to a high end GPU without having to upgrade your PSU as well. Theres no worse feeling than having to spend that extra bit when you're already hurting from the GPU. Youtube faggots are trying to recommend AM4 boards when your far better off getting AM5 with a low end CPU and upgrading when next years generation releases. The point of a PC is that your game saves and library exist permanently without having to start over like console as well as having access to mods, emulation, indie games, productivity and unlimited media access. None of those require high end specs.

For me, I think the biggest downside is the initial cost of investment, especially for a nice setup. You can get a budget setup, too, but it's still initially pricier than a console.

However, after the initial down payment, over time, it pays for itself. Games are cheaper, mods are better, graphics are also better, and the PC can be used for more than just gaming. On my desktop, I do my work, gaming, watching, and everything. ALSO, no online subscription bs, keeping the games and being able to play them on other PCs, etc. If the cost of entry does not bother you, it's probably the best investment you can make.

(Upgrading parts is also simple that you do not need to buy the mwuah new console every couple of years)

Several times, developers care less about PC optimization, and focus on the console one.

Aside this, I don't truly find downsides. Someone might argue that it costs more, but on console, games cost more, and additionally you will have to pay monthly for the online.
Also, a PC works, well, as a PC too. It's not exclusively for gaming, making it a kind of 2 in 1 deal.

Literally impossible. Like you would have to actually have down syndrome to think that's possible. Maybe hope for a 4090 competitor that costs $850 next gen best case scenario.
We're just never going to see jumps like that, it's literally never going to happen until we reverse engineer Alien Grey technology.

That card is just so unimpressive, barely faster than 3080 almost 5 years later.
In the end you just buy the most expensive GPU you can afford anyway.

Demand will be high, going to have a hard time getting one at msrp. As of right now and in the near future 12gb vs 16/18gb isn't going to be worth much for a card of this class. On the 5070 vs ti almost all of the examples of the 12gb card running out of memory aren't playable on a 70ti either (and that's with it already being like 10%-25% faster)
>12gb will bite you in the ass
Maybe 8 years from now. From my perspective having to upgrade your midrange card after 2 gens to keep playing everything maxed out sounds totally fair. 8gb is still fine today you just have to open a settings menu. Not that you should buy an 8gb new card today, I'm just saying...
4gb was still usable for 1080p until late last year.
>>718956532
They're gone. Unless you can find someone selling it locally the online listings are universally scams. You might be one of the people who should try to find a 5080 super when they launch, only a little bit slower with the same amount of memory.

You can already fill 12GB with ease, mostly in shitty games like SW:Outlaws or CP77.
It's even easier if you enable FG.
"usable" is just subjective.

CP77 has memory leak just play for longer and you will experience it. DLC is the most likely place to see it. Just 1440p with normal RT is enough. If you want textures which don't look like smeared shit you also want more than 12GB for that game.
Outlaws also has bad VRAM management so heavy stuttering is just a part of the experience with 12GB, unless you turn potato mode.
5070 can do 4k DLSS perf in many games just fine. With DLSS4 it doesn't even look that bad.
>You're not the norm though
Never said I was. Like I said "usable" is subjective.
Having more than 12GB will simply create a safety bubble, remember new cucksoles are around the corner and they will have more memory for sure.

I don't know the spec for refresh 5070Ti other than bigger VRAM capacity.
Some models might not even get better performance 5080S will be the same GPU if it even exists because it uses full die already.

NTA. Where and why do you buy a chair that expensive? Does it give you blowjobs at least? What are the featurs of it? What is it made of? Do you ever think you got gypped out of 5000$? The cost of upgrades and new hardware. This isn't a problem if you're okay playing with normal settings and don't need 4k or whatever. But many people fall into the trap of constantly buying the latest hardware, even though they don't need it to play games.

Not much honestly.
Emulation means compatability with nearly all old systems.
Being a universal platform means anyone can play anything provided they can run it.
And most everything is fine even with steam deck potato specs so a huge budget isnt needed to build a nice experiance.
Your choice of form factor also.
no bullshit monthy retard tax to use your own internet.
If it breaks you can fuckin fix it.
negatives are...software can be fiddly when you mod something to fuck and back. Retards often dont know what the fuck they are doing also
