Why does the power button randomly not work sometimes? Hardware wise it takes a few hard presses to work sometimes but then other times no matter how hard I press it just doesn't work and I have to manually restart it.

I do and now my L and R buttons only work sometimes and I'm filled with severe anxiety because the steam deck is my only computer and I don't know how to fix it and don't want to send it in to have it fixed and not have a computer and have them mess it up and mess up all my settings I literally killed myself setting up

Yea it's a piece of shit. I don't get buyer's remorse often but I genuinely regret purchasing it. Lesson learned, I won't be buying anything physical from Valve ever again. It's a shame because when it works it's great. And we're just talking hardware, the software issues are endless. Whatever new OS they updated to a few months ago automatically has a lock screen enabled. I didn't even set a password and it asked for one. Fortunately I was able to just reset and go into desktop from gaming mode. Kinda makes you wonder why there's even a password option at all when you can easily get around it just by rebooting.

What kind of electronic device doesn't automatically disable the screen going to sleep while watching videos? Sometimes it still does even when I check "manually disable sleep and screen lock".

OK, I've vented about the shit that pisses me off about it. On the positive side, I can record decent footage of games in OBS but rarely anything higher than 720. Which is a shame because I can run some old stuff in 4K. But to be able to play and record in 720 with a good bitrate and fps is impressive.

I only have that issue once. It seems like if it's already connected to the t.v. and you turn everything on it won't get a signal until you unplug the dock then plug it back in. I don't mind having to get up to turn it on and off because I move it frequently. When I have dinner I just put on a youtube playlist. I thought about getting a wireless mouse to basically be a t.v. remote though. For now I just use my wired 360 controller. I was using a Switch Pro controller but those don't work well with steam and the random drift will make you think your Switch controller is broken when it isn't.

In a thread yesterday people were saying you just download lossless scaling off a github? I want to test it today.

Look up some guides on JewTube. It's designed to be replaceable. If you do replace it. Go to your settings and set max charge to 80% unless you're on a long flight or something where you need full capacity. LI batteries don't like to sit at 100% or be fully depleted.

I have a 3rd party dock that fucks the contrast up when it's docked. My 4K t.v. can fix it when I set the video range to "full". But my old 1080p Samsung t.v. doesn't have that setting so some games are unplayable because it's so dark. And then turning up the brightness makes the highlights way too bright.

For Deck 2, if I'm to make a prediction, Valve will most likely go for a 7.9-inch 120Hz 1920x1200 LCD screen with the improvements from the OLED screen because it's more available and cheaper given the competition coming. If valve releases a new Steam Machine I'll probably buy it. The steam deck is just in a weird middle ground that doesn't accomplish anything for me. But the core of the actual problem are incompetent game devs. In an ideal world you'd be able to play anything on a CPU/GPU half as strong as what the Steam Deck offers, on the 800p resolution it has.
