For Answer in terms of story, music, gameplay and atmosphere
3/Silent Line in terms of refining the OG games' systems to perfection, with the best Arena and the best iteration on the classic AC formula
Last Raven in terms of customization and challenge, and freedom in mission choice
6 is second place in all of these factors. My personal favourite is For Answer, the story and OST is unparalleled and the autist gameplay helps a lot with that

I would probably enjoy 5th gen more if I could get a higher frame rate playing it on PC
I finished the game but in some of the story missions in 5 it would drop to 15 fps and that makes the missions a slog. Side missions were usually ok though

Personally I think 4 has a better soundtrack than FA. And V soundtrack is better than VD. They're all great though. Probably they use up most of their ideas in the first game

I used to think 4 had a better soundtrack but honestly For Answer has a lot of tracks that go unnoticed like Cicada outside of the big ones. Also helps that the OST matches a much better game, 4 feels like a demo for For Answer. But they're both fantastic

No. I played 6 first and I fucking hated it because I disliked the gameplay loop. I then played every game one after the other from 1 to For Answer and then I appreciated AC for what it is and I thoroughly enjoyed 6, getting all 3 endings. Start with 1 and deal with the clunky gameplay and you'll appreciate the newer games that much more.

Its a fine starting point. It will just make it hard to go back to the older games thank to the little tweaks it made like having your back weapons always being active instead of having to switch to them.

For me, it's Last Raven. AC3 was my first though and it does have a special place in my heart.

I went in to Last Raven with no save data and I even ended up on the route with Rimfire and that other fuck. The only other game I had played was AC3 which at that point was quite a while ago so I didn't really remember how the game worked. I am a stubborn motherfucker though so I kept trying different stuff until it worked. If I remember right I had to fucking run Rimfire out of ammo so I could blade him to death.

Versatility. An AC can swap parts to match the mission profile. Other machines tend to be more limited. Though in 6 it's implied that ACs are kind of old hat compared to LCs and HCs which are much higher performance and have the same kind of versatility in weapon loadout at least.

AI fighters are limited. It's like what Freud says when he kills Chatty. Hell even earlier on Nine-Ball gets wrecked by the First Raven, even if he was a top tier arena fighter there's always going to be a pilot that's better.

Nightfall's loadout honestly isn't that bad. Though I'm sure it's more his skill that carries him than the AC loadout.
