Whenever I see a graph like this showing a spike in 2020 for something that made the internet and/or the youth worse (TikTok, social media usage in general, popularity of anime, etc) I get more and more pissed off about living in the timeline that had Covid. Skimmed the article, it's just a fluff piece talking about how Astro Bot is literally better than anything that's come out from Nintendo or Microsoft in the past decade and that Sony will make more games like it in the future. Yeah it talks about how Sony wasted their money on Concord, Bungie, etc. but you need to read between the lines and realize that's just doing a recap on all the bad press Sony's garnered this year.

I do find it funny how the movieslop era that TLOU started was actually the westoid's vidya industry's demise.
People may be in denial about it, but once you take into consideration the sheer inertia needed to stop an industry that big, tracing back the mortal wound always leads to the push for movieslop and trying to use a push for GAASlop to heal the wound that only ended up causing full blown irreversible cancer instead.
It's possible that if pubg/fortnite/roblox/gtav never got big the westoid industry could have course corrected or at the bare minimum still have a few years worth of steam to continue going with first party single exclusives and asia would be the one drowning in GAAS instead.

Everyone knows that a PS6 neXtbox is coming but that doesn't mean they're getting the attention. We're already seeing a difference. The next Xbox is just a reference device and Microsoft doesn't intend to make anymore in-house consoles just leaving it to OEMs until that fails, it's clear that Satya wants multiplatform and Phil wants Xbox to still exist but Phil is losing and will retire soon when this fails for him as well. Sony isn't even pushing their hardware forward like they usually do with the PS6 not even being much of a jump from the 5 Pro and the handheld not even being as strong as the base PS5. Sony is also going multiplatform making anything they do redundant. Both Sony and Microsoft have failed with their first party and aren't pivoting fast enough to save them. AAA isn't the answer and them both dropping AA for AAA slop while also going and staying woke may just nuke their gaming divisions. It's clearly over for the PlayStation and Xbox. You can tell anyone who defends weren't playing games before those consoles existed.
