Are Myrmidons good in any of the games? They were always a bit too glass cannon-y for my taste.

In babby mode, yes they're good.
In proper lunatic difficulties, no. Once they achieve 100% evasion rate, enemies will not attack them.

Myrmidons are bad because sword lock is typically bad because it's 1 range locked except in like Radiant Dawn (they should bring the Wind Edge weapons back, they were cool). Also because many myrmidons end up with shaky strength so they can't even do the cannon part of the glass cannon. And also dodge tanking in many games is a risky prospect. Exceptions include Rutger because his stats are good especially in hard mode, but also he is actually able to hit things which is important in FE6 where everyone can't hit the broad side of a barn, and Ryoma who is notably ranged with Raijinto (which also has absurd might) and also just generally has a ridiculous amount of stats, especially relative to Birthright enemies.

i kinda like the idea of speed/skillmaxing conceptually, but both sort of run into this cliff of returns problem. more strength will always be useful even if you are beyond the threshold of killing what you need to kill because it will increase your other options or allow you to use less powerful weapons for the same result. after you get to the doubling threshold though, speed loses its utility because all you are gaining is 1-2 avoid depending on the game. one support can make up like 3 speed levels worth of avoid. besides really dangerously fast enemies, myrms/speedmaxers don't really have a use for overkill speed.
skill is in the same boat, there are massive diminishing returns after about 80 hit in 2rn calculations.
I still use memedons pretty often because I enjoy the gambling of higher crit rates and avoid rates, but i understand they are suboptimal for attacking and tanking purposes due to their typical stat spreads.

Ross' main problem is that he's slow, which can be fatal in late game. Metafags still give him a pass despite being a trainee though, because muh availability and muh water walk.

Hana I guess? She comes earlier and has way higher STR and SPD growth, though she's made out of paper. This is in comparison to Hinata, naturally Ryoma blows both out. Also Hana is a joke on Rev because for some reason they actually nerfed her stats despite coming a chapter later.

They vary. It is highly dependent on how player-phase the game is, how much lance cavalier spam is in the game, and how much you can exploit certain mechanics (read: Rutger, Double Earth Support in Radiant Dawn, 1-2 range swords existing), but they are usually good enough to worth a slot or training, but never someone you make an anchor of your squad.

They have niche application in FE12 late game because of doubling thresholds you can hit with 30 speed, and free C swords means high MAG units can take advantage of the Levin sword. They also have 8 move compared to the 7 and 6 of some other promoted infantry classes.

3houses and fates both have bad storytelling for different reasons. 3houses had 4 routes that conflict with each other and most of them are clearly unfinished (claudes route is literally just silver snow but claude is there), fates was written as fetish bait first and making any actual sense last.
