It's kind of unique in the platforming genre. Like it has that openness of Mario 64 but it's all in one huge house (at least from your perspective), and progressing the story unlocks other parts of the house.
You get currency by passively doing chores as you explore and you use that to get even more shit, and nooks and crannies usually have little doors you can plug into and it gives you a bunch of money as well..
The main goal of the story is to get number one in Chibi Robo rankings, which you just so happen to get by, in the grand scheme of everything that happens, resolving family drama and more or less putting an end to a terrorist organization and I'm not really kidding.
