It's trivially easy if what you're worried about is handing something usable to an artist. Come up with a concept and the design elements you want them to have. Even if you're not a great artist yourself, just doodle the best version of the concept you can, MS Paint is actually totally fine.
Include a few examples of the body type you're going for, and anything else that might be important, such as patterns or materials that help clarify details.

Most artists are totally willing to work with that. And if they're not, their commission information usually says exactly that. Most of them do tack on an extra charge for starting from scratch, but it's usually not much.

The difference is that Croc sucked, and everyone knew it. Only the tiny fraction who grew up with Croc alone have any serious fondness for it. Everyone else played other games and realized how little Croc had going for it both in terms of gameplay and personality.

All because he didn't get to soft claim Bubsy as his own.
And now that it looks like Bubsy 4D is actually going to be good, it's just pissed him off even more.
