this mission filtered millions despite how easy it actually is.

Filtered them hard. It's always the same-give players a stealth segment or make them use brain cells for five minutes and suddenly it's "bad game design." Half the people never even read the objective properly.
Anonymous No.718967198 >>718967678
I always passed it on my first or second try. I never understood people having trouble with this mission.
The Demolition Man mission from Vice City still filters me though.

It was bugged. SMG kept hitting the side of the train all the time. That's what made it hard.

it wasn't, you just were too close to the train so big smoke couldn't hit the vagos, Big Smoke's aming is actually very accurate.

I feel like this mission got the reputation of a tough mission partly due to how badly the game runs during it on a PS2. On top of that you have the "soul fog" and you're probably playing the game on a shitty small CRT television. No wonder it's hard!

The missions in GTA:SA aren't usually that difficult. The pain in the ass is how fucking far you have to go to retry them. It becomes especially awful once you're out in the southwest part of the map. There really should have been a quick retry option after failing a mission.
Anonymous No.718968608

in this game in particular is soul, is mostly used to hide the short rendering distance, iirc only san fierro had actual full terrain covering fog.

I'm still disappointed they didn't go with the original Ryder story line.

Recently replayed GTA SA on PC and I'm fully convinced that the RC plane missions are literally impossible to beat on a keyboard
Anonymous No.718971632
Of course when I think of a gangster crime game I think of flying RC planes, fucking with dogshit controls and having to pass some retarded flying tests.

What the fuck was Rockstar thinking? GTA IV was the first game to just strip out all this dogshit and it's one of the most critically acclaimed videogames of all time per Metacritic.

is not that hard either to be honest, just scout and find all the drug stands BUT do not destroy them so the timer doesn't start, when you are ready you can go after all of them easily now that they are on the map.

Was the difficulty really due to the fact that we were 5th graders. Surely the age demographic was not struggling as much.

I don't understand why they even bothered. They'd have made more money with no controversy if they just did basic engine updates to the games to ensure they ran smoothly on modern consoles and then released them in a pack.

I failed a couple times but then near the end used the dirt track and fell on top. Still failed but then knowing I could get me and Smoke on there with the Vagos had me look around. I found a ramp close to the start and used that to get on top. Made short work of them then.

When I recently revisited it: the mission was indeed way too easy, hell even the stupid lowrider challenge mission is harder than it. GTA Vice City mission 18 on the other hand holds up as being some bullshit. You know the save Lance Vance from the junkyard mission? that will forever remain unmatched. On the other hand I think the remote controlled toy helicopters and plane missions can also be frustrating in both games. But that's more of a flip coin result, sometimes easy and sometimes hard. The controls are just finicky. Death Row is the most bullshit GTA mission ever designed and I would not even think of attempting such a mission without a helicopter parked outside Malibu Club before starting it.

This mission was never hard, it never filtered anyone, the reason it's remembered is because it is one of the few missions with a fail dialog, most missions only have the "mission failed" plastered over the screen.
Anonymous No.718977607

that's because you are supposed to keep some distance from the train so big smoke can hit them but most people would stay too close wnd the shots would hit the side of the train.

>but the lock-on targeting fucking up made shit near impossi
I use free aim when possible. So last mission wasn't all that hard for me. It's only Death Row I've recognised as the most inconsistent difficulty mission in the game. If I had used lock on targeting then it would not have been fast enough to kill all the Haitians in the mission Naval Engagement. That mission is a hell a lot of easier if you just free aim it.

This game had so many ports and releases with bug and mission fixes that you honestly can't say any of the missions were hard or easy until you state what version of the game you played.
